As strategic Orlando Human Resources consultants, we were as disappointed as the rest of the job watchers to see the latest Department of Labor Job Report declare a stagnant 9.5% unemployment rate. Not good.  But this, too, shall pass.

Now is the time to conduct your HR Audit. The checklist should ensure payroll practices are legally compliant and that the Workers’ Comp coverage is where it needs to be. Someone needs to take a close look at the employee handbook and get it updated to ensure the company is minimizing its downside employment risks. And where is the leadership development initiative? Done any union awareness communication lately? Is the new team member orientation process broken? And how is that vision statement coming along? Can anyone recite it from memory?

Our economy is going to kick back into gear. We don’t know when, but it will.  Be ready for when it does.
